Collin County Transit expands to include Saturday service

The following is a press release from the City of McKinney:

McKINNEY, Texas (Oct. 3, 2017) – Collin County Transit, a partnership between the City of McKinney, the McKinney Urban Transit District (MUTD) and the Denton County Transportation Authority (DCTA), has expanded service hours to include Saturday service, effective Oct. 2. Collin County Transit will now operate Monday through Friday from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m., and on Saturdays from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Residents can book trips 24 hours a day, seven days a week, 365 days a year. A variety of taxi operations are available including wheelchair accessible vehicles.
 
In addition to expanding service hours to Saturday, MUTD will now serve the City of Celina. The service consists of a subsidized taxi voucher program that provides efficient transit options for participating MUTD cities including McKinney, Lowry Crossing, Melissa, Princeton and Celina.
 
A resident of one of the participating cities can apply for Collin County Transit via email, fax, phone or mail and must provide a completed application, signed terms and conditions, and copies of all required documentation. Irving Holdings, DCTA’s contractor, operates and manages the taxi voucher program. For customers whose mobility device cannot be accommodated through the taxi voucher program, DCTA will directly provide demand-response service.
 
“The city is excited to offer more accessible public transit in McKinney by adding an additional service day. The expansion of Collin County Transit to Celina also broadens the variety of options for residents and enhances opportunities for community,” said City Manager Paul Grimes.
