Unofficial election results for McKinney bond, charter and City Council election
$350 million bond package passes
McKINNEY, Texas (May 4, 2019) – Today McKinney residents cast their ballots in the general election to vote for or against five general obligation bond propositions, two charter amendments and to elect three Council seats.
General Obligation Bond Election
McKinney voters approved all five propositions in a general obligation bond package according to the unofficial election results from the Collin County Election Administrator. Provisional ballots will be counted and final results certified next week. The total bond package was proposed at approximately $350 million in funding.- Proposition A passed. Proposition A called for the issuance of $75,000,000 general obligation bonds for public safety facilities.
- Proposition B passed. Proposition B called for the issuance of $50,000,000 general obligation bonds for a municipal community complex.
- Proposition C passed. Proposition C called for the issuance of $91,000,000 general obligation bonds for parks and recreation facilities.
- Proposition D passed. Proposition D called for the issuance of $34,000,000 general obligation bonds for public works facilities.
- Proposition E passed. Proposition E called for the issuance of $100,000,000 general obligation bonds for street improvements including sidewalk, alley, and other traffic flow improvements.
McKinney residents approved two city charter amendments that were up for consideration:- Proposition F passed. Proposition F provided for a reduction in the required petition signatures needed to initiate a recall election.
- Proposition G passed. Proposition G clarified that recall elections are citywide.
The District 2, District 4 and one At Large seat were contested by six total candidates. District 2 and 4 representatives were chosen by the voters in their respective districts and all McKinney voters were able to cast votes for the representative for the At Large position.
To be elected to City Council, a candidate must receive a majority of votes in the general election, or more than 50 percent of the total vote. All results are unofficial and courtesy of the Collin County Election Administrator.
District 2: Rainey Rogers elected
According to the unofficial results, Rainey Rogers won the District 2 seat. He was an uncontested incumbent in the race.
District 4: Rick Franklin elected
According to the unofficial results, Rick Franklin won the District 4 seat against Siotha Vest.
At Large: Frederick Frazier elected
According to the unofficial results, Frederick Frazier won the At Large City Council seat against John Mott and Stephen Kallas.
The Early Voting Ballot Board will process Election Day provisional ballots and late ballots from overseas on Friday, May 10. The City of McKinney will certify the Official Election Results on May 15. For more information on the accumulated total votes, visit the Collin County Election Results page.
